Artists in the Children's Center

This program offers artists the children's center for their workspace for their artistic creations and expressions. Artists who seek for a space to work, and the children who always want to play - This program develops the fusion of creation, expression and pleasure.

Form of Words Workshop
■Artist: Yoshinari Nishio
■Venue: Music Room at Nerima Ward Higashi Oizumi Children's Center
■Date: Every second Saturday (subject to change) 10AM - 5PM
■Content: Through the art making process of "Shape of Words", this project connect children and local people. The artist interviews people working in Oizumi area about their work clothes and comes up with a keyword to describe their wears. Children and workshop staff will create a "shape" inspired by the keyword, from used clothes at children's center. The "Shape of a word" will be worn by the interviewees at the end of the workshop.

History of New Residents at Children's Center
■Artist: Jun Kitawaza
■Date: Every Wednesday (subject to change) starting on 2009.9.16 2PM - 5PM
■Venue: Nerima ward Higashi Oizumi Children's Center and the surrounding areas
■Content: Looking on the places where children feel a place of their own in the city as "child zone", the project researches and discusses about the current reality of "child zones" and aims to create new "child zone". The artist becomes a member of "new resident of children's Center" in order to launch new "children center", and make "tools", maps and newspaper and more with children as an attempt to realize the good performance of "new resident".

About Artists in the Children's Center Committee:

Founded in 2008, "Artists in the Children's Center Committee" is an organization which was launched to run the program inviting artists to children's center for a certain period, and providing the workplace for their artistic creation and expression. By offering the environment of Children's Center where the relationship of children and local citizens are created, the committee aims to produce spontaneous and organic collaboration of artist among children, city and art. http://jidokan.net
