Iza! Kaeru Caravan! in Tokyo

Iza! Kaeru Caravan! in Tokyo is a brand new disaster prevention art program launched as part of the ten-year commemorative project for the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. This program consists of a workshop which allows participants to learn how to extinguish a fire and rescue and aid people while enjoying game-like activities and“Kaekko Bazaar”, a toy exchange program designed by artist Hiroshi Fuji. As a result of this program, young families who rarely participated in disaster drills before began to actively participate in the program. Iza! Kaeru Caravan! in Tokyo is held in different parts of Tokyo. Based on disaster drills held in different parts of Tokyo under local community’s initiatives, the program continues to invent a new disaster drill that is unique to Tokyo, as well as to seek a new style of local community itself as it connects the people who conduct the drills, local residents, and entities that collaborate in the drill.
