Synopsis
The music festival “Music Weeks in TOKYO 2011” will be held with the aim of bringing new energy to the music culture of Tokyo and boosting creativity. With an eye toward Tokyo’s status as a leading global choral city, an array of programs will be promoted in integrated fashion with participation and artistic creativity as features of the events, centering on the theme of “voice.” We will advance this music festival to stimulate the creative environment for arts and culture to create new things and disseminate them from Tokyo to the world in its capacity as an art and culture city.
Super Chorus TOKYO
The festival features a superb professional choral group, consisting of members selected through auditions. Continuing from last year, Super Chorus TOKYO will perform a special concert in October under the guidance of world-renown chorus director Mr. Roberto Gabbiani.
Premium Concert
Tokyo’s musical ambassador, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, will hold a classical music concert incorporating participation and artistic creativity from all areas of Tokyo, as well as collaborations with Super Chorus TOKYO and programs that let people get to know classical music while experiencing it in a familiar way.
Tokyo Music Academy
The Tokyo Music Academy will be held to cultivate musical talent to support the next generation.

Featured front and center in Music Weeks in TOKYO 2011 music festival with its theme of “voice,” Super Chorus TOKYO is a professional choral group representing Tokyo, uniting top performers selected through auditions with hand-picked members from Tokyo’s professional choral groups.

Recruiting Members for Super Chorus TOKYO (It ended.)
We continue to recruit members as we did last year, aiming for further advancement. In 2011, Super Chorus TOKYO will perform the Premium Concert in the summer and the Super Chorus TOKYO Concert in October, under the direction of Mr. Roberto Gabbiani, maestro of choral music.

Tokyo Music Academy
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides a wide range of support enabling young, up-and-coming artists of all nationalities, not merely from Tokyo but from all over Japan, to spread their wings in the global arena launching from the captivating stage of “Tokyo.”
As part of efforts to provide young artists with opportunities to put their abilities to the test and to be recognized, at Music Weeks in TOKYO 2011, in coordination and cooperation with cultural facilities in Tokyo, new “Master Class” courses will begin whereby participants can receive instruction from international artists in magnificent acoustics just like during a real concert.
Aimed at nurturing young, world-class talent, the courses are a golden opportunity to receive instruction in Tokyo. They allow participants to get private lessons, capitalizing on the opportunity of internationally active artists visiting Japan.
